Gary has been called throughout his life to help those who cannot help themselves. And to speak up for those who can't do so for themselves. First as a Naval Officer then later as a lawyer, he's fought for individual rights, freedom, and the liberties guaranteed to Americans. He's unafraid to stand and fight, even when others won't.
Gary has served as an appointed member of governmental boards and commissions, and indirectly as a supporter of various causes and individuals including those involved in politics and various forms of charity. He is a longtime member of the American Legion. He is also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was recently appointed as Post Service Officer of Post 2511 in Porter, IN. He's served as a political appointee on his town's/city's Plan Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Ethics Committee. He volunteers his time to actively support candidates, causes, and organizations that advocate for and protect fundamental American Constitutional principles, including the most basic - the rights to "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." Gary welcomes opportunities for additional public service including with state and local government, charitable organizations, and private entities.
Gary has acquired extensive life and professional experience, that he now uses to give back to others just starting out, as well as those trying to navigate the complexities of the professional world. Through three primary "phases" of his adult life, Gary has gained valuable insight into "how things work," and the way to perform at one's highest level.
Whether it be in the world of competitive swimming and all things aquatic, where he trained and competed among the world's best. Or through his Naval service, where Gary excelled as an "outsider" and graduated in the top 10% of his class to earn an active (as opposed to reserve) commission from Officer Candidate School. Or as a lawyer who, despite not gaining acceptance to a "top" law school, nevertheless rose to the pinnacle of the "BigLaw," white shoe firm world, founding and leading an entire litigation division in a nationally ranked intellectual property practice.
Gary has spoken and written extensively over many years as a practicing trial lawyer. He's provided press interviews on a variety of legal topics including those relating to federal and state intellectual property issues, as well as trial, practice and procedure. He's appeared on national and local news program related to cases he's handled. He's served as a panel moderator and speaker at numerous legal and pharmaceutical industry conferences. And he's published on a broad array of topics including pharmaceutical patent litigation, trial practice and technique, and artificial intelligence. Gary welcomes press inquiries, as well as requests for appearance/comment/ presentation on legal and related topics.
